3 New Cookery Books To Add To My Collection

Heh heh heh.....I just bought these 3 cookery books from
Amazon.com. They had it on OpenTrolley. com too. But after I
did a quick calculation, I realised that it is still cheaper to get it
from Amazon.com, inclusive of shipping. The exchange rate is
better. I saved around SGD 20. I'm so excited!!! I just checked
my order. They have already shipped, so that means I will get
them in October. Yeah.
Been following Jaden Hair's blog for quite awhile now. Her
dishes are simple to make and she makes authentic Asian
dishes because of her Asian roots. I always salivate when I look
at her blog pictures.
I love Italian food. Giada makes Italian cooking simple and
fuss-free. I just made parfait using her recipee....yum.
Ina's dishes are exquisite but they never fail to tantalise me.
Am looking forward to recieving the books.

A Song That Brought Tears To My Eyes

I was surfing the net and chanced upon this song by Pink Martini, Splendour In The Grass. This song really moved me to tears. The video was great too. Maybe I should take time off to re-examine my life once again.

My Favourite Iron Chef - Masaharu Morimoto 森本正治

I have been following the Iron Man Japanese series on AFC since last year. This time round, Food Network Asia did a new season for Iron Man America. My all-time favourite chef has always been Morimoto. He's really awesome. This man has got charisma, style and class. He's just so different from the other chefs. His cutting edge cuisine has got such depth and his style of presentation so alluring. He's a man with a simple dream: I want to hold a knife all my knife. Oooh..gives me the goosebumps. So man. Too bad he did not open any restaurant in Asia.I can only admire him from my little TV screen. He looks better with spectacles in the new series.
I should start saving up for a trip to US.

My First Step In Cake Making

I was craving for cheesecake. But then I was too lazy to watch over the oven, so I decided to make a non-bake cheesecake.I sourced for some easy to follow recipe and I found one that requires only a few simple ingredients such as cream cheese, a can of sweetened condensed milk and digestive biscuits. It sounds easy, except that when it comes to mixing the filling, I really had hell with it. The recipe called for cream cheese but it did not say to mix it at room temperature. And being an amateur and a greenhorn, I mixed the unsoftened cream cheese with the condensed milk and my...I tell you...the filling was so lumpy. It took me almost an hour to blend it till smooth and well...not quite smooth because there were still lumps in it. Luckily I had a sieve at home, so I put the fillin through the sieve and lo and behold...I had a smooth and creamy mixture..yeah!~~ I am so pleased with myself.I filled up my crust with the filling and put it in the fridge for 5 hours. But the filling did not firm up as I had wanted it to, so I thought maybe I should it into the freezer for awhile. And it worked perfectly!! The non-bake cheesecake turned out to be quite yummy. I should put in more lemon to give it more tang the next time.
